Tripp Lake Camp Return of the Shield

The 2022 season is officially in full swing and we couldn’t be more excited to share the beauty of this place with our wonderful campers and staff. You could say that the spirit of Tripp Lake Camp truly came alive today. These campers have brought the type of energy and enthusiasm that we dream about for 10 months out of the year. They wasted no time this morning and jumped immediately into a day that spanned all areas of camp. From swim tests (known as ‘rectangles’ here at Tripp Lake) and tennis lessons, to theater and dance, there were beaming smiles all around from the new Juniors all the way to the seasoned Seniors. Our younger age groups started the morning on tours around camp so they could familiarize themselves with all the amazing activity areas and beautiful buildings we have here at Tripp Lake.

Each age group had the opportunity to meet with their advisors and assistant advisors today as well. These wonderful women spend their days dedicated to making sure each camper in their group is supported and engaged in every aspect of the daily program. Through a kind and compassionate approach, they provide guidance, stability and structure to our camper’s days so they are always ready to go with the proper equipment, clothing, attitude, etc. We feel so lucky to have these committed role models who genuinely enjoy connecting with your daughters and creating meaningful relationships with them.

The main event of the day was the highly anticipated “Return of the Shield” evening activity, led by our Senior campers. The Seniors are the oldest age group at camp and have already worked hard to set the tone for a positive and enthusiastic camp season. We’re just hoping they don’t all lose their voices from the constant cheering and singing all over camp! For the event, the entire camp gathered once again on the steps of Cliff House. The Seniors put on a beautiful presentation where they enthusiastically shared about all the traditions and spirit that Tripp Lake has to offer. This important event allows our Seniors to wrap their arms around the younger campers and help them feel like they are a part of something bigger than themselves.

As soon as we heard “sit back, relax, and let the senior age group give you a lesson on camp 101”, we knew we were in for a treat. They spoke on the importance of tradition, spirit and friendship here at Tripp, amongst many other things. If you didn’t already know, traditions are a huge part of the Tripp Lake Camp experience. It’s one of the defining characteristics of the program and something that creates a familiarity and consistency from year to year that our campers and alumnae love and cherish. Even as camp evolves and progresses with the times, the traditions will remain intact. For many, friendship is also one of the most important aspects of Tripp Lake Camp. So many of our campers come to Tripp Lake as strangers and leave as lifelong friends. That’s because the friends you make here at Tripp Lake accept you for who you are, without judgment, and allow you the space to be the best version of yourself. The Seniors planted the seeds of anticipation as they talked about Big and Little teams, Trip Days, Special Day, Team Feast, Friday Evening Services and much more. We look forward to sharing more on all these exciting events as the summer progresses! It was a special night to remember, and one that reminded us that we are creating a sense of belonging here at Tripp Lake Camp that is nothing short of magical.

Kind Regards,

Leslie and Katie
