Week 6 at Tripp Lake has been our best yet. From the highly anticipated senior party to several entertaining age group musicals, to the peak of TLC tradition with Sing Song, every day has brought even more unforgettable moments for our campers and staff. Senior Party is something every camper looks forward to when they first become a senior camper at Tripp. All our Seniors 1s and 2s showed up dressed to impress this year. It was an enchanting night with delicious food, stunning decorations, and heartfelt speeches that will forever linger in the hearts of the beautiful seniors who have spent their formative years bonding under the open sky and among the whispering pines. We’re so proud of the leaders these young women have become and how they continue to show up as role models for our younger campers and each other.
Wish Night, planned and hosted by the Inter IIs, is a favorite tradition amongst campers and staff. As you can imagine, most days and nights at Tripp Lake are loud and energetic. Wish Night, however, gives our community a chance to slow down and reflect on our hopes and dreams for the future of Tripp Lake and its campers and staff. The Inter IIs have been working all summer on their theme of “Tripp Lake Garden”. After being guided through beautifully drawn images of the garden at camp, everyone gathered for a bonfire on the beach where the Inter IIs took turns reading wishes from chosen campers within each age group. It was a beautiful night which ended with a spectacular fireworks show over the lake!
The Subs, AJs and JRs all performed their musicals this past week as well. Descendants (Subs), The Big Bad Musical (AJs) and Aristocats (JRs) were all fantastic shows. It’s amazing to witness the confidence growing in each of these campers as they take the stage in front of their Tripp Lake family. The best part is seeing how the entire camp (counselors and campers) rally around the age group at the end to give them hugs and congratulations. These girls work so hard all summer to put together these shows and while it’s an empowering experience for each individual child, it’s also a wonderful way for the age group to bond as a whole. There was lots of laughter, tears of joy, and endless applause!
The campers experienced their last trip day of the summer, and we made sure it was a fun one! We also surprised the girls with a ‘Monday Funday’, complete with giant inflatable slides and obstacles courses, non stop banana boating, an ice-cream truck and counselor dunk tank.
For many, the highlight of the week was ‘Sing Song’. It’s difficult to describe the magic of this tradition at Tripp, but that’s exactly what it is: Magic. The Sing Song Leaders and Committees have been working all summer long to prepare for this special night, and their hard work really paid off. The four Big Teams shined through each round, showing off a mix of beautiful melodies and harmonies. In the end, the Climber team (led by Caroline (CC) W.) came out on top as the winner of Sing Song 2023! We’re so proud of all the girls for putting on an impressive night for each other and the TLC staff. We can’t believe the summer is coming to a close soon, and we’re soaking up every last minute of camp with our girls!
Kind Regards,
Leslie and Katie
