July 2, 2021 – TLC Times

After days of temperatures above 90 degrees, campers welcomed the cooler, rainy weather that started late last evening. This morning girls made their way to breakfast, decked out in their raincoats and rain boots, splashing around from puddle to puddle. The first rain of the year usually has me questioning if our girls will miss their outdoor activities. However, every year I’m quickly reminded just how much our girls enjoy a more relaxing, rainy day at camp. It gives them time to cool down (quite literally after our warmer weather this week!) and have more time to connect with their friends.

Campers followed their daily schedule, which led their group to different indoor activities across camp. Whether it was exploring all the art shops, playing bingo, playing team games like Deal or No Deal, scavenger hunts, dance, and theatre – our girls never missed out on an activity throughout the day. Towards the end of the day, our younger campers (Juniors, AJ’s and Subs) gathered for the much anticipated Little Team Announcements! Girls walked into the Dining Hall with giant smiles on their faces, ready to find out which team they were on – Cherries, Jollies, Laughers, or Smilies. Girls were on the edge of their seats, looking around the room, waiting to run towards the colors green, blue, yellow, or pink. Cheers let out for all to hear as girls ran to their new Little Team for the summer!

Our campers always find such joy in the friendships and sense of community that these Big and Little Teams bring to their experience at Tripp Lake Camp. They learn what it means to be part of a team and realize the fantastic skillset they also bring to the table. We strive to make sure these team experiences help create incredible bonds with one another and empower girls to realize their true potential. After a day packed with fun indoor activities, we closed the night with our first Friday Evening Services – a tradition that involves every camper by connecting us for a time to reflect together on the week we’ve had, our new friendships, and our overall experience.

I’m looking forward to sharing more as we start to close out week one of camp! Keep an eye out for updates tomorrow on which Little Team your daughter is on if they are a Junior, AJ, or Sub!

Kind Regards,

Leslie
