Dear TLC Campers,

It’s us, your team clothes. Remember those words? Team clothes? Those tigerlicious, cubmazing, giantastic, climberiffic pieces of clothing you wear with love, and love to wear. We live in that place under the Dining Hall where the light doesn’t really ever shine. You know it – where tutus and muumuus are hot ticket items, where the fishnet stockings can never find their pair, and where you spot the fallen feathers before locating the actual boa itself? Sound familiar?

Screen Shot 2020-08-03 at 4.44.59 PMWe miss you! Gosh, we were so ready for this summer. We were ready to be thrown on at the bunk for a team game, only to get shrugged off on the fields because your outfit doesn’t fit team sport regulations. We were vying for that opportunity to be the item claimed the DAY teams get announced, knowing that even though you claim you’re saving us for Picture Day… we might just be seeing the inside of a team clothes cubby all summer. We bet on each other’s probability of not being superseded by the Visiting Day attire that comes all fresh and shiny in July (Whatever, new rubber bracelets. You call us tattered when we prefer Aunt Kitty chic, thank you very much.)

Girls, we get it. You’re enjoying your opportunity to wear two piece bathing suits on the regular. Flip flops aren’t a hazard this summer, so let’s just throw caution to the wind, right? Your mother’s Amazon cart is probably appreciating the nice break as well. Yet here’s the thing:

Screen Shot 2020-08-03 at 4.31.49 PMWe represent the very best part of your camp experience. Apologies to the Wish Night candles and the Jazz Hands and even the TLC uniform (We get it, you support the Giants just by pure existence…) We represent the camaraderie that brings our youngest and oldest campers together from the moment camp begins. We characterize the spirit that hallows through the Dining Hall and carries itself all the way down to the Waterfront. We thrive in the knowledge that we foster a culture of sharing. It’s insanely more fun to get ready in a bunk than at home by yourself, and to know you’re keeping tradition alive simply by putting on an outfit that’s been cheered in before. Finally, we epitomize the safety a girl, whether ex-camper or current, can find at Tripp in being able to dress in this crazy way knowing it’s just par for the course in the Promised Land.

We were originally going to write this letter petitioning for our own song, but an ode to those who adorn in and adore us seemed like the right way to go. We miss you, we love you, and we can’t wait to be reunited.

All Our TLC Love,

Your Team Clothes

P.P.P.P.P.P.P.P.P.S. – Sorry Middies, do YOU get an entire week of theme tables dedicated to you? That’s what we thought…
