Day 23: Intercamp Tennis Comes To TLC

Screen Shot 2015-07-20 at 9.46.03 PMTripp Lake Camp was honored to host the 67th annual Intercamp Tennis Tournament. Earlier this week, TLCers vied for a position on our coveted Intercamp Tennis Team in hopes of playing in this highly competitive and time honored Tournament. Visiting camps included Fernwood, Pinecliffe, and Walden. Matches included singles and doubles’ matches, with all match wins counting towards team points.

It was a tough, hard fought battle with plenty of back-and-forth matches. The weather played a factor as the heat provided plenty of  humidity, and players did all they could to stay hydrated and cool. Campers not participating came down throughout the tournament to cheer on and show their loving support for their fellow Tripp Lakers with handmade signs.  In the end, Tripp intercamp tennis boardLake Camp came out victorious, edging out Pinecliffe by a mere two points!  Again, a huge congratulations to everyone– Fernwood, Pinecliffe, and Walden– who participated and gave it their best. We loved having you visit.

Finally, The TLC Times Blog would like to share a couple of written pieces, originally published in our camper-written weekly anthology distributed every Sunday. This week’s theme was the “Fiction Issue.”

“The World of T7 – A Short Story” by Morgan, AJ

One day, an Inter III girl called Monica was walking around the circle of bunks and noticed that one tent stood out amongst the rest. This ten was T7. It wasn’t beside the other bunks. She thought it was a Senior bunk, so she did not go inside.

The next day, Monica was feeling brave so she decided to venture inside. As she stepped inside, she saw a light at the other end of the tent. She figured it was just the light from outside. Monica walked towards it, and heard a sound. The sound was becoming louder and louder the closer she got to it. She soon realized it was a glowing door. She went through the door, and saw a whole new world, with hells that stretched for miles. She did not want to get lost in this world, so she left.

The next day, Monica went to T7 to go explore the new world once more. She soon realized the world was just brooms and buckets in a storage closet! Monks learnt a lesson that day – she never went into someone else’s bunk without asking.

The End.

“The Lake” — A lovely poem, written by the talented Eden, AJ

Crystal blue water

glitters in the light as sun

leaks through the clouds.

Seaweed creeps out of the

waves and sounds of splashes

against rocks bring

a relaxing feeling through my body.
