July 6, 2021 – TLC Times

One thing TLC alumnae always say is that Tripp Lake Camp never lacked spirit. Whether it was the traditional events of the summer, the loud cheers at every meal, or simply the energy girls bring to every day – it’s a type of spirit you can’t even describe. Before campers arrived at camp this summer, we knew that the first week might not feel exactly like other years, with our safety protocols in place. However, we made the most of every moment and focused on simply celebrating us all being together again at Tripp Lake. The campers did an amazing job at remaining positive and bringing the energy, but at the end of the day, things did feel a bit different during our first week. There was this lingering sense of missing each other, even though we were only feet apart.

I started to sense a change happen yesterday – it all started with our first meal together in the dining hall on Sunday. No longer were cheers fading sounds that went between the indoor and outdoor dining hall. Instead, there was a roaring, unified community of campers cheering in the dining hall, together again for the first time in almost two years. The moments we share during our mealtimes together are some of the most vital, uplifting, cheerful (sometimes very loud!), and memorable at camp. The same goes for connecting with other friends in their age group within their bunks. Whether it’s playing cards, listening to music, or just relaxing together – these are the moments that even our alumnae say were their favorite.

Our staff can start to feel the energy of camp beating stronger each day, now that we can all take our guards (and masks!) down a bit and really dive into the summer together as one community. Today our little teams hit the Gaga courts in their team clothes, cheering loudly for everyone around to hear. Their faces lit up as they cheered back and forth across the court in between games, all just so excited to be sporting their colorful outfits with each other! Bringing us back together as one is exactly where we’re meant to be.

We are looking forward to another day at camp with your girls! Tomorrow evening is our camper talent show, and we can’t wait to see their performances!

Kind Regards,

Leslie
