Day 07: Trip Day Tuesday Thursday!
As the morning chow bell rang, campers and counselors alike were greeted by clear skies and a bright, beautiful sun; it’s as if Maine knew today was our first Trip Day of the summer! Normally held on Tuesday, Trip Day gives our girls a wonderful opportunity to experience all the surrounding beauty Maine has to offer.
After a big breakfast, campers packed a bag lunch, applied sunscreen and prepared their Trip Day packing lists.   Campers boarded their buses and were on their way to enjoy such wonderful locations as Bradbury Mountain for a small nature hike followed by strawberry picking (Junior II’s); Thorncrag and Maine Wildlife Park (Junior I’s); Pine Point Beach, to soak in a little sun and surf (AJs); Arethusa Falls for a breathtaking nature hike (Inter III’s); while the Senior II’s spent the day in Portland. The Subs, Inter I’s, Inter II’s, & Senior I’s remained at camp where they flexed their creative talents at the Art Shops, kept cool over at the Waterfront, and practiced their team and skill building muscles at Land Sports.

Everyone returned safe and sound in time for the summer’s first Pizza Cookout, where the girls got to eat a slice or two in the gorgeous 70 degree weather, while laughing and reflecting on their day’s adventure with friends.
The night ended on a very special note, when the Juniors, AJs, and Subs gathered at Cliff House to find out their Little Teams! Traditionally, Subs are the Cheerleaders for each of the four Little Teams: Smilies, Cheeries, Jollies, and Laughers!

During the Little Team Announcements, some of the Subs were asked to describe what it meant to be Cheerleaders for their respective teams:
“It means we are role models to the little campers.”
“We must be modest so if you win a game, you don’t go rubbing it in the other teams’ faces.”
“We teach the cheers to new campers and make sure to cheer the loudest.”
The night ended with all the Little Teams cheering their loudest and proudest.
