“A huge part of swimming for me is I love it, and it is so much fun.” – Missy Franklin, Olympic Gold Medal Swimmer.

Day 13: Swim Meet! Swim Meet! Swim Meet!

Three words: First. Swim. Meet.
If you’ve ever been Tripp Lake Camp, you probably have memories attached to the Swim Meet. Campers gathered around the morning flagpole as the Seniors came cheering down from senior row decked out in their respective team colors. The action then moved down to the Waterfront, where the cheering continued as all age groups swam in different swimming heats for Big Team points. Sure, there’s a Big Team competitive component to the morning activity, but some would argue it isn’t the dominant aspect of the Swim Meet. If you looked around the beach and pagoda, all girls–no matter what Big Team they were on–spent time together and cheered each other on; a larger community is at play here. The camp is united as one, spending time together, free to mingle, socialize and show each other support, no matter the age group.  Campers  built sand castles and chatted with one another, awaiting their turn to race. The only pause in the action came when Cookie Line was delivered down to the Waterfront. Overall, this summer’s first Swim Meet of the season was a big success.

Subs prepped and packed for their annual overnight Point Trip, which takes place at camp at the end of Point Road. Subs learn how to properly prep a camp site, and then spend the night in tents. This is all in preparation for their overnight at Lost River.
