“Everybody dance now!” – C+C Music Factory
Day 12: Sometimes You Just Have To Dance
Today, our campers woke up to mostly cloudy skies, with temperatures in the mid-70s. But not to worry, the sun soon came out by 3rd period activities and our day remained beautiful throughout.
Tripp Lake Camp, much like a well-oiled machine, ran as smoothly as ever. Big Teams as well as Little Teams began team practices in basketball, lacrosse, softball, and field hockey. Today was Day 01 of a two-day soccer clinic available to all age groups.
The Inter I’s and Seniors could be found in OTW theatre practicing for their upcoming shows. The Senior Revue will make its debut on July 15th, kicking off a string of musicals soon to fill the historic OTW stage. The list of shows will be:
Seniors: All-Star Revue
- Inter I’s: Legally Blonde
- Inter II’s: Footloose
- Inter III’s: Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
- Subs: Grease
- AJs: The Lion King, Jr.
- JRs: Bye Bye Birdie
The Subs hunkered down all day at the low & high ropes courses in RRODL (Rocks, Ropes, & Outdoor Living), learning about the importance of safety, attention to detail, teamwork and critical problem solving.
But the REAL news of the day came during the after-dinner period. Juniors, AJs, and Subs gathered at the steps of Cliff House for our Little Team Dance Party. Why a dance party? More like, WHY NOT?! Life needs more dance parties….and Cookie Line. DEFINITELY Cookie Line. Our intrepid video counselor, Charlotte Hawkins, was there to record the fun and then share it with us. Click below and enjoy!
Finally, The TLC Times Blog is reaching out to our alumnae, asking them to share a camp moment–large or small– which had a real impact on them, changed them in some, or they will never forget. We feel, no matter when you came to camp, the TLC experience is universal.
Our inaugural “Favorite Camp Moment” comes from:
Maggie Gross, 1AB 2014
“During Return of the Shield my 1AB summer, while listening to the Captains Letters, I began reflecting about the amazing summer I already had, even though it was only the first full day of camp. I couldn’t help but think, ‘Wow. This is what it’s like to feel pure happiness.’ I didn’t have a care in the world, and all I could think about was how lucky I was to be in a place where I just felt socomfortable to be myself and strong, indescribable happiness. After Return of the Shield ended, 1AB danced around the bunks with the Juniors in our pajamas and felt so silly and so free; all I could think was how lucky I was to have such an amazing summer ahead of me.”
