With sunshine and warm weather, it has been the perfect week to welcome back our girls to their home away from home! Although campers joined us from many different places, they all arrived with one thing in common: their excitement for the incredible summer ahead of them. As girls poured out of vans and buses, there were not hugs tight enough or smiles big enough to truly capture the love felt for this place and the relationships built here. From big sisters and little sisters connecting on campus to bunkmates reuniting or even meeting for the first time, camp relationships are something truly special and unique.
Here at Tripp, our goal is that our girls experience the timeless traditions of camp while challenging themselves to discover and embody the Spirit of Tripp Lake. The courage and confidence we saw as campers stepped into camp this week paired with the kindness and responsibility shown proved to us that the Spirit of Tripp is vibrantly alive already this summer and will continue to grow within our campers and shine out to others. Our counselors and staff have worked hard throughout pre-camp and will play a fundamental role in fostering these life-long virtues while supporting our campers in becoming the best versions of themselves.
The efforts and energy of our campers and staff have exceeded expectations as we dove into our first week. Week one began with traditions including “Return of the Shield” and “Election of the Captains”. These events were followed by our first pajama breakfast, team announcements, a “Cheer Off” with big team cheers, our first trip day, and so many opportunities for our favorite activities with our new schedule addition, “Choice & Chill.” We could not have asked for a better week to start our summer!
If you’re wondering more and want to know what else your campers have been up to, here are some things to check in about! With two letter writing days down, there should be plenty of letters in the mail, but we are sure there’s always more your campers could write to you about!
- With team announcements, all the crazy costumes and cheers have returned to camp. What big team is your child on? Who is their captain? Which team is their favorite? Do they have a favorite costume or cheer?
- Trip days for Juniors, Inter 1s, and Seniors took us to the Desert of Maine, Take Flight adventure courses, Conway Scenic Railway, and a Portland shopping and escape room adventure. Where did your camper visit?
- What has been their favorite activity to visit during Choice and Chill?

The Tripp Lake Team
